Eleanor Johnson: Service

Hi! My name is Eleanor Johnson, and I am from Snohomish, Washington. I am majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and have a minor in dance. Outside of class I work with Campus Kitchens, a program on campus that takes leftover food from campus dining to cook warm meals that are then served to Gonzaga Family Haven and O’Malley Senior Center. Along with Setons I am apart of Women in Business, Beta Alpha Psi, and the involved in the Gonzaga dance program. In my free time I like to read, get coffee, take workout classes, and watch Gilmore Girls.   I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and ever since, Service has been extremely important to me and something I strive to keep a part of my life. Growing up in Girl Scouts allowed me to recognize the importance of helping those in my community from an early age and has ultimately led me to be the person I am today. Service was the pillar that drove me to join Setons, and I’m so ...

Eva Palmer - Service

Hello! My name is Eva Palmer, and I am a Sociology and Spanish double major! With these degrees, I plan to attend nursing school after Gonzaga! This past summer my family moved from Eagle River, Alaska to Las Vegas, Nevada. While living in Alaska, I grew a love for the outdoors and some of my favorite activities are fishing, camping, hiking, and hammocking. Even though Las Vegas is a very exciting place, I am thankful for the opportunity to have attended school on campus this year, in Spokane.
Throughout this academic year, I have absolutely loved every aspect of being a Seton. However, out of our three pillars, I have felt the strongest connection to Service. The outreach that I am a part of is the Blessings Under the Bridge group that serves on Saturdays. During this time, our group helps organize donations ranging from clothing to toiletries. Once we organize these donations, we help put together packages to provide to those experiencing homelessness within Spokane. Not only is this service fulfilling in the sense that we are helping those who may need extra support, but it is rewarding because of the connections we have made with the women who run the donation department of Blessings Under the Bridge. These women are the epitome of selflessness, and they remind me each week of the positive impact one person can make in the world. I feel incredibly thankful to be a member of Setons and to have been assigned to Blessings Under the Bridge because while service has always been an important aspect in my life, these experiences together have sparked an even deeper passion for giving back. I cannot wait to continue serving Spokane, and I hope that I can one day make as much of an impact as the amazing women at Blessings Under the Bridge have! Go Setons!
