Grace Coyle: Service

Hi! My name is Grace and I’m from the Bay Area. I’m pursuing a degree with dual majors in Sport Management and Digital Media/Broadcasting! I love videography, crafting, hiking, camping, surfing, basketball, rugby, and any sport ever! Here at Gonzaga, I’m on the club basketball team, women’s rugby team, and I work in the athletic department as a creative media intern. I’ve loved being a Seton and here is my take on service!        I was originally drawn to Gonzaga because of its Jesuit values that are rooted in the ideas of caring for the whole person, striving to do the best for others, and promoting justice. I was raised in a Catholic family, and ever since my younger brother's cancer journey when I was a kid, I've made a diligent effort to give back to the community. ABOUT US

The Setons of Gonzaga is a service organization composed of 30 amazing women who actively serve the Spokane community under the three pillars of service, sisterhood, and leadership. During the year, Setons participate in monthly service at different organizations throughout Spokane. These services can range anywhere from leaf raking, writing letters and cards, serving at shelters, and so on. Monthly service creates an opportunity for all 30 of us to serve at the same time together. In addition, each week Setons are broken down into smaller groups to perform weekly service at organizations that we work with all semester long. Fall 2023, a few groups worked at the Boys and Girls Club of Spokane and a couple of groups were at the Hutton Settlement Children's Home.

Additionally, Setons are well known for hosting the annual Charity Ball event where all students on campus are welcome to attend in order to raise money to donate to an organization of our choice. This year we are supporting Sally's House Emergency Foster Care. Essentially, the Setons of Gonzaga create an atmosphere where women can serve the community, support one another, grow in leadership, and gain 29 other sisters while doing so! Follow our blog to see where this year takes us!
