Mary Maidment: Service

Hi! My name is Mary Maidment and I am from Portland, Oregon. I am studying neuroscience with a minor in psychology on the pre-med track. On campus, I work as an events assistant and as an Ambassador, frequently giving tours. When I have free time, I love to be outside hiking, shopping, intramural sports, workout classes, and spending time with friends. This year, my team won our softball and volleyball intramural championships!! I have been busy watching the new Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season and just finished Scandal. What drew me to Setons was the Service pillar. Since I was young, my family has made an effort to be actively involved in different forms of service in our community. We spent time at our church, local food bank, community garden, and my favorite was making clothing bags for children in need. I loved picking outfits and giving toys, games, and other activities. The Gonzaga community reflects this deeply ingrained value I have, which is the importance of service and ...

Jenna Gilberg: Service

Hey! My name is Jenna Gilberg, and I am from Boise, Idaho. I am currently double majoring in Criminology and Business Administration (concentrating in data analytics and law and public policy), with hopes of becoming a JAG or a corporate lawyer. Outside of Setons, I compete on the GU Women’s Rowing team, which I walked onto as a Freshman and I absolutely love being a part of. I also work in the TVRAS + FGI office, spending most of my time working with the student Veterans on our campus. In my free time, I enjoy getting a sweet treat, hanging out with my friends, working out, and watching tv. I also love country music and have recently been obsessed with Dylan Gossett. Joining Setons is one of the best decisions I have made in my time at Gonzaga and I am thankful for the opportunities it has provided me to serve and connect with my amazing sisters.
The pillar of Setons that piqued my interest was service. I began volunteering at a young age, which became a fundamental part of who I am today. I’ve always believed that giving back is the sincerest way to spread the fortunes I’ve been given in my life and I think its important to do whatever I can. In Setons, I am one of the Service Chairs for this reason. During weekly service, which is the service aspect I work on, I enjoy volunteering each week with a small group of my sisters. Working with the same few girls each week, I have had the opportunity to form deep connections with girls that I hadn’t met before my time in Setons and I look forward to our bonding experiences each week. Monthly service events are also something I really enjoy because we get to be part of something bigger than us. We’ve helped at multiple charity auctions for monthly service and it has been such an amazing experience, seeing the magnitude of support for these organizations that we are serving.
