Eleanor Johnson: Service

Hi! My name is Eleanor Johnson, and I am from Snohomish, Washington. I am majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and have a minor in dance. Outside of class I work with Campus Kitchens, a program on campus that takes leftover food from campus dining to cook warm meals that are then served to Gonzaga Family Haven and O’Malley Senior Center. Along with Setons I am apart of Women in Business, Beta Alpha Psi, and the involved in the Gonzaga dance program. In my free time I like to read, get coffee, take workout classes, and watch Gilmore Girls.   I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and ever since, Service has been extremely important to me and something I strive to keep a part of my life. Growing up in Girl Scouts allowed me to recognize the importance of helping those in my community from an early age and has ultimately led me to be the person I am today. Service was the pillar that drove me to join Setons, and I’m so ...

Tia Cunningham: Sisterhood

Hey! My name is Tia Cunningham and I am from the small town of Naches, Washington. I am majoring in Biology and minoring in Art with the goal of going to Med school. Growing up I always knew that I wanted to go into some sort of medicine, but as of now, any specialty is still being decided. Outside of Gonzaga, I love hiking, reading, swimming (I was on the Naches Barracuda swim team), travel, movies, art, and music. One of my favorite memories is when my grandparents surprised me with a trip to see Billy Joel in New York for my 18th birthday, it was a very emotional experience to say the least. I love to travel because I think the world is so vast and beautiful, I just want to be a part of it all, even if it means stepping out of my comfort zone. Joining Setons was a big step for me, I had a hard freshman year and am so grateful to of found a club with so many passionate, funny, and smart women.

As a pillar of Setons, sisterhood plays a huge role in how this club operates. Putting such immense value into building long-lasting and genuine relationships has made this club so strong in a unique way. I always look forward to going on sister dates, the 1-on-1 time has taught me so much about everyone’s different values, stories, and experiences. It’s very cool to see such a variety of women devoted to leadership, service, and of course each other. I cannot wait to do more service, go on retreat, and do socials alongside these girls. A small group of 3 other girls and I do weekly service at the Issac Foundation and I feel like I have gotten to know them so much better than if we were just classmates (shoutout to y’all!). They are so fun to be around, even if we are all very tired and need a Dutch Bros pick-me-up after service. Not only have this years Setons made an impact on my life, taking over the club from last years sisters was an amazing experience. I very much look up to last years’ president and know that our president is going to be just as great, I also look up to the girl who introduced me to Setons and guided me through the entire process. Being a member of this club showed me what sisterhood is all about from light-hearted smiles and waves to stepping up for a sister in need. I am so thankful to be a part of this community with meaningful connections across campus. To any sister reading this, see you Wednesday! :)
