Eleanor Johnson: Service

Hi! My name is Eleanor Johnson, and I am from Snohomish, Washington. I am majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and have a minor in dance. Outside of class I work with Campus Kitchens, a program on campus that takes leftover food from campus dining to cook warm meals that are then served to Gonzaga Family Haven and O’Malley Senior Center. Along with Setons I am apart of Women in Business, Beta Alpha Psi, and the involved in the Gonzaga dance program. In my free time I like to read, get coffee, take workout classes, and watch Gilmore Girls.   I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and ever since, Service has been extremely important to me and something I strive to keep a part of my life. Growing up in Girl Scouts allowed me to recognize the importance of helping those in my community from an early age and has ultimately led me to be the person I am today. Service was the pillar that drove me to join Setons, and I’m so ...

Libby Monthofer - Service

Hi!! My name is Libby Monthofer, and I am from Tucson, AZ. I’m majoring in Biology and Philosophy with the plan to go to law school and practice healthcare law. I’m a big coffee lover, corny joke enthusiast, Spokane explorer, and recently a focaccia bread baker!
I think there are some really unique aspects about serving through Setons. First, we’ve had some awesome opportunities to discover and work with local organizations (and meet the incredible people who run them)! Ashley, Claire, and I are volunteering at Blessings Under the Bridge this year; every Tuesday, we prepare meals that will later be distributed to those in need. Although our time there has been cut a little short because of COVID, it's been great to be a small part of a group that contributes so much to Spokane! But the part that really stands out about serving through Setons is that we are able to experience the other two pillars at the same time. We are learning to become leaders of our community by first serving with the community and finding the ways we can dedicate ourselves to others. Last but not least, we are able to strengthen our friendships with one another by coming together through something we all value.
