Eleanor Johnson: Service

Hi! My name is Eleanor Johnson, and I am from Snohomish, Washington. I am majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and have a minor in dance. Outside of class I work with Campus Kitchens, a program on campus that takes leftover food from campus dining to cook warm meals that are then served to Gonzaga Family Haven and O’Malley Senior Center. Along with Setons I am apart of Women in Business, Beta Alpha Psi, and the involved in the Gonzaga dance program. In my free time I like to read, get coffee, take workout classes, and watch Gilmore Girls.   I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and ever since, Service has been extremely important to me and something I strive to keep a part of my life. Growing up in Girl Scouts allowed me to recognize the importance of helping those in my community from an early age and has ultimately led me to be the person I am today. Service was the pillar that drove me to join Setons, and I’m so ...

Emma Holm - Service

Hi! My name is Emma Holm and I am a nursing major from Sacramento, California. I am so happy to be back in Spokane this year, even if most of my classes are online. I am especially looking forward to continuing spring semester at school because last year I never got to experience how beautiful Spokane is in the summer. I also can’t wait for Spo Summer 2021 to enjoy the sunshine and hang with my sisters!
Service has always been an important aspect of my life and I am so glad that I can fulfill this passion through the Setons of Gonzaga. In high school, I volunteered at a soccer camp for children with learning disabilities and loved the time I spent with them. Playing soccer and interacting with them every Saturday was something I always looked forward to and confirmed that nursing was the right path for me. As a Seton, I feel equally fulfilled. I am currently working with Spokane’s Women and Children’s Free Restaurant to provide free food and groceries to women, their children, and families through a contact-less drive-through. I have come to enjoy my work with the volunteers and fellow sisters, and am going to be reaching out to other service groups with Setons to spread the word about the restaurant. This program has not only enabled me to serve the greater Spokane community and learn about the services offered here, but has allowed me to get to know my sisters and my new city better!
