Sarah Grassel: Service

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Grassel and I’m a Biology major with a Spanish minor. I’m from Corvallis, Oregon, and have lived my whole life in the Pacific Northwest. Because of this, I’ve developed a love of the outdoors, especially of hiking, biking, and paddle boarding (and also coffee of course). I love to go on walks, especially on the beach, and like to read, bake, play piano, swim, and spend time with friends and family. At Gonzaga, I’m involved in campus ministry and work as a tutor in math and chemistry, and, of course, I am a Seton. Coming to Gonzaga, I knew I wanted to find a community that valued service and connection. Service has always been an important part of my life. Through volunteering, I’ve gotten to meet so many people from different walks of life while working on various projects. I believe serving others is essential to living a flourishing life. It’s an act of love and humility, recognizing the gifts one has received and working for and with others in gratitude...

Lucy Coyle: Leadership

Hi there friends! My name is Lucy Coyle and I am from Redwood City, California. I am currently working towards degrees in Psychology and Studio Art here at Gonzaga University and hope to become a clinical psychologist specializing in early child development and art therapy! On campus, I participate on the D1 women’s rowing team in addition to serving alongside my Setons sisters. I love all things outdoors, especially hiking, surfing, running, and (recently) rock climbing. My favorite aspect of Setons thus far has been the forum provided to form meaningful relationships while doing meaningful work!

Joining Setons of Gonzaga, I was excited at the chance to make a meaningful impact through servant leadership, standing in solidarity with my classmates, and working toward
solutions around meaningful issues. My first semester in participation with this club has offered me a multitude of wonderful learning experiences. I feel lucky to have gained a more in depth understanding of compassion, empathy, hard work, and patience. Setons of Gonzaga has offered an incredible place where I can grow in my formation as an individual, work in shared purpose with my fellow sisters, and bond in meaningful relationships that will last a lifetime. Opportunity for immersive service experiences, such as my time spent at Hutton Settlement, has prepared me to show up in the world as a spiritually, socially, and intellectually well-rounded individual, ready to serve those in need.
