Amelie Gavino: Sisterhood

Hello everyone! My name is Amelie Gavino and I am a Human Physiology major from Palos Verdes, California! I am a media chair for Setons alongside Claire! I love to go on scenic walks, shop til I drop, find the best places to eat and most of all, be by the beach! Being from Southern California, the beach has always been a place of serenity to me. Other than Setons, on campus I am involved in the Club Golf team and the Filipino American Student Union as the Public Relations Chair!  The pillar that resonates with me the most is Sisterhood. I deeply value the bonds formed when women come together to support and empower each other. To me, sisterhood means creating a space where people feel seen, understood and uplifted. It’s about being able to celebrate successes and to provide comfort during difficult times, allowing us to all grow through shared experiences. Sisterhood reminds us that we aren't alone and that we have a support system to get us through anything. I'm so honored to ...

Elle Dunne: Sisterhood

Hey hey everyone! My name is Elle Dunne and I’m from Redondo Beach, CA! I am a political science major with an economics minor, and I hope to work in the government in some capacity when I’m older. Right now, I am our Setons Attorney General and I have been loving my position thus far! I have been riding horses since I was 9, and I absolutely love listening to Taylor Swift, watching the sunset, and hanging out with my friends. I am so incredibly excited for the rest of the year with my lovely Setons sisters!!

The pillar I chose to talk about is sisterhood. Sisterhood is extremely important to me, I have a younger sister named Lauren and we’re incredibly close. But beyond familiar sisterhood, I went to an all-girls high school where one of our pillars was also sisterhood. Through my time there, I realized how important it was to build a sisterhood of uplifting, inspiring, kind, and compassionate people around me as they became one of my biggest support systems. While I made some incredible friends my freshman year, I wanted to keep expanding my circle and Setons has given me the opportunity to do just that. On our first day, I was so nervous about meeting everyone, but I very quickly realized that I had nothing to worry about! My first sister date with Jenna was so sweet and fun, and I remember walking away feeling like maybe I had found my people and place. This feeling has continued to this day, I walk away from every meeting with such a big smile on my face even if I’ve had the worst day prior to that. I look forward to seeing and talking to everyone each week, whether it be a quick chat in Hemm or a longer sister date, and these moments have truly become the highlight of my year! The 29 lovely ladies I have had the opportunity to spend the year with have become just the sweetest, most compassionate, uplifting, and hilarious group of girls I have ever known. Being in Setons has been the most incredible experience and I am so so SO lucky to call these girls my sisters!
