Amelie Gavino: Sisterhood

Hello everyone! My name is Amelie Gavino and I am a Human Physiology major from Palos Verdes, California! I am a media chair for Setons alongside Claire! I love to go on scenic walks, shop til I drop, find the best places to eat and most of all, be by the beach! Being from Southern California, the beach has always been a place of serenity to me. Other than Setons, on campus I am involved in the Club Golf team and the Filipino American Student Union as the Public Relations Chair!  The pillar that resonates with me the most is Sisterhood. I deeply value the bonds formed when women come together to support and empower each other. To me, sisterhood means creating a space where people feel seen, understood and uplifted. It’s about being able to celebrate successes and to provide comfort during difficult times, allowing us to all grow through shared experiences. Sisterhood reminds us that we aren't alone and that we have a support system to get us through anything. I'm so honored to ...

Caroline Ghisletta: Service

Hi y’all! My name is Caroline Ghisletta and I am from Martinez, California, which is about an hour East of San Francisco. I am double majoring in Chemistry and Criminology with hopes of finding a job in forensics! At Gonzaga, I'm on softball, basketball, and flag football intramurals and enjoy every second of it. Besides Setons, I love going on walks and runs, my dogs (Octane and Oakley), my cat (Katniss), karate, anything outdoors, game nights, and hanging out with my friends and family! I am a second-semester transfer student, so meeting people my freshman year was very difficult. I am forever grateful that Setons allowed me to meet 29 like-minded, kind girls that I can now call my sisters. I look forward to getting to know each of them more personally and growing as a group!

I chose to write about our pillar of service because it is something that has always resonated with me. Growing up, my family was always involved in some kind of volunteer work. During Covid, my mom and I became very involved in our local humane society and helped bag dog and cat food that was handed out to families receiving food stamps. This is when I found my love for service and the importance of helping your greater community. Through Setons, I volunteer at the Boys and Girls with my small group and love every moment of it. Let me tell you, those kids are a hoot and always keep you on your toes! In October, we volunteered at the Isaac Foundation and helped kids impacted with autism learn how to trick-or-treat. This was by far my favorite service event we have done. I felt like I was able to help a community beyond the one I knew, and this is why service is so important to me. Through weekly and monthly service events I have gotten to know others in a more personal way and have a better understanding of myself. After Setons, volunteering and service will always be something I incorporate into my life!
