Grace Coyle: Service

Hi! My name is Grace and I’m from the Bay Area. I’m pursuing a degree with dual majors in Sport Management and Digital Media/Broadcasting! I love videography, crafting, hiking, camping, surfing, basketball, rugby, and any sport ever! Here at Gonzaga, I’m on the club basketball team, women’s rugby team, and I work in the athletic department as a creative media intern. I’ve loved being a Seton and here is my take on service!       

I was originally drawn to Gonzaga because of its Jesuit values that are rooted in the ideas of caring for the whole person, striving to do the best for others, and promoting justice. I was raised in a Catholic family, and ever since my younger brother's cancer journey when I was a kid, I've made a diligent effort to give back to the community. Service is the foundation of Setons, and it has given me an opportunity to continue my efforts, whilst helping me grow spiritually as a student and person. Although not a religious club, I have found these Jesuit values within Setons, particularly when we are giving back. Having the hands-on-experience to help our community in a number of different ways has taught me how to see the humanity in every individual, go above and beyond to brighten someone's day, and encourage equity.
