Yuna Jang: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Yuna and I am from Sacramento, California. A bit about my home life, I have a sister who currently attends Baylor University on track to become a doctor and I am currently studying nursing. My parents own their own sushi restaurant so I can confidently say sushi is my favorite food (and I know good sushi). Other than Setons, I am also involved in the Gonzaga Student Nurses Association here on campus as well as when I’m at home from school, I work at my local gym’s kid’s club because I love working with kids! Although nursing is pretty rigorous academically, in my spare time I live with 3 other roommates and we love to cook, watch movies, go on walks, and shop!  I chose the Seton pillar of sisterhood. This pillar is truly what drew me to Setons in the first place. As a 2nd semester freshman girl, I felt like I had met a lot of people but didn’t truly connect with any to call them a close friend. However, once I joined Setons, I got to truly and deeply connect with ...

Sophia Borella- Service

Hi everyone, my name is Sophia Borella and I am from Mountain View, California. I am a nursing major here at Gonzaga and love being involved in the Setons. Club! My family consists of my Mom and Dad, my twin sister Juliette, and my two dogs Milo and Lucy. In my free time I love spending time with friends, exercising, and finding new brands of coffee to try (Clark’s Fork oat milk latte is my go-to!).

In the Setons club, I personally love the service pillar and the amazing opportunities it has to offer. Last semester I volunteered at the North Town Girl and Boys club and spent with kindergarteners. While spending most of my time going to classes and studying in the library, service offered me the perfect outlet I needed to find more balance. I formed many deep connections with the children just by coloring pictures and playing basketball. Many of the children opened up to me about their home life situations. It brought an immense amount of perceptive into my life knowing the struggles their families face. Since this service location was off campus, it allowed me to understand the Spokane community outside of Gonzaga. Ultimately, completing service every week caused me to become more grateful for the privileges I have in my own life. I wish to continue growing together with my fellow sisters and grow as an induvial through service experiences.
