Yuna Jang: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Yuna and I am from Sacramento, California. A bit about my home life, I have a sister who currently attends Baylor University on track to become a doctor and I am currently studying nursing. My parents own their own sushi restaurant so I can confidently say sushi is my favorite food (and I know good sushi). Other than Setons, I am also involved in the Gonzaga Student Nurses Association here on campus as well as when I’m at home from school, I work at my local gym’s kid’s club because I love working with kids! Although nursing is pretty rigorous academically, in my spare time I live with 3 other roommates and we love to cook, watch movies, go on walks, and shop!  I chose the Seton pillar of sisterhood. This pillar is truly what drew me to Setons in the first place. As a 2nd semester freshman girl, I felt like I had met a lot of people but didn’t truly connect with any to call them a close friend. However, once I joined Setons, I got to truly and deeply connect with ...

Katie Aguirre - Service

Howdy howdy !!
My name I Katie Aguirre, I am a nursing major from Northern California and one of this year's co-service chairs! My top three picks of life are ABBA, car jam sessions, and almond butter.
Having grown up serving the Chico community with my mom and younger sister, I knew this is something I wanted to continue pursuing throughout my time at Gonzaga. As I came across Setons, I knew this was an organization for me as it involved meeting new girls who were just as passionate as myself and serving the greater community each and every week. As a result, of this passion, I ran to be service chair and was even elected! While, at this point, we have not started our service yet, it is by far my favorite pilar. Serving others is something which I value deeply and being able to reach out to the community and work with organizations that each of us girls are passionate about and deeply invested in and with.
As I begin working with displaced children and their mothers and Transitions Living Center (TLC) this upcoming week, I am beyond thrilled and overcome with emotion at being able to continue a passion my mother instilled in me from a young age. Further forging the bond with the four other girls I will be volunteering with each week is something I look forward to and know will only deepen my love for giving back and the sisters I am so lucky to have.
Having a break each week to give back and get away from the stress of microbiology and human anatomy is something I am looking forward to. I cannot wait for the experiences to come and the memories made as we begin to serve and grow closer to not only the community but one another!
