Laila Zommers: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Laila Zommers and I’m from Seattle, WA. I’m double majoring in Accounting and Business Administration (with a Finance concentration). I am the oldest of 3, and my younger sister (17) and younger brother (15) are my best friends! Joining Setons this year has truly been one of the best decisions I have EVER made. Outside of Setons, I am an active member in the Gonzaga Women in Business club. I love to cook, go on runs, hang out with friends, shop, and explore the Spokane coffee scene.                                            Out of our three pillars, I have resonated the most with Sisterhood as it’s the backbone of everything we do in Setons. Leadership and service could not thrive the same without it. Finding a group of like-minded women has been super beneficial in my college experience and my growth into the young woman I am today. Katie Aguirre - Service

Howdy howdy !!
My name I Katie Aguirre, I am a nursing major from Northern California and one of this year's co-service chairs! My top three picks of life are ABBA, car jam sessions, and almond butter.
Having grown up serving the Chico community with my mom and younger sister, I knew this is something I wanted to continue pursuing throughout my time at Gonzaga. As I came across Setons, I knew this was an organization for me as it involved meeting new girls who were just as passionate as myself and serving the greater community each and every week. As a result, of this passion, I ran to be service chair and was even elected! While, at this point, we have not started our service yet, it is by far my favorite pilar. Serving others is something which I value deeply and being able to reach out to the community and work with organizations that each of us girls are passionate about and deeply invested in and with.
As I begin working with displaced children and their mothers and Transitions Living Center (TLC) this upcoming week, I am beyond thrilled and overcome with emotion at being able to continue a passion my mother instilled in me from a young age. Further forging the bond with the four other girls I will be volunteering with each week is something I look forward to and know will only deepen my love for giving back and the sisters I am so lucky to have.
Having a break each week to give back and get away from the stress of microbiology and human anatomy is something I am looking forward to. I cannot wait for the experiences to come and the memories made as we begin to serve and grow closer to not only the community but one another!
