Yuna Jang: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Yuna and I am from Sacramento, California. A bit about my home life, I have a sister who currently attends Baylor University on track to become a doctor and I am currently studying nursing. My parents own their own sushi restaurant so I can confidently say sushi is my favorite food (and I know good sushi). Other than Setons, I am also involved in the Gonzaga Student Nurses Association here on campus as well as when I’m at home from school, I work at my local gym’s kid’s club because I love working with kids! Although nursing is pretty rigorous academically, in my spare time I live with 3 other roommates and we love to cook, watch movies, go on walks, and shop!  I chose the Seton pillar of sisterhood. This pillar is truly what drew me to Setons in the first place. As a 2nd semester freshman girl, I felt like I had met a lot of people but didn’t truly connect with any to call them a close friend. However, once I joined Setons, I got to truly and deeply connect with ...

Isabelle Fradley: Sisterhood

Hi everyone! My name is Isabelle Fradley, and I am a Human Physiology major with the intent on going into PA after graduating. I am from Anchorage, AK. My hobbies include skiing, running, fishing, and pretty much anything outdoors because that is what you do coming from Alaska. If anyone knows me, then they know that I am never in one place for very long as I am always travelling. A fun fact about me is that I have been to more countries than states. After this summer the country count will be at 12. But there is nothing I love more than being a part of Setons.

When I think of sisterhood, I think of all the memories I’ve made this past year with my sisters in Setons. From flower picking to hiking to spending the weekend together at Retreat. What can I say “Setons are forever.” From 9pm Wednesday night meetings to weekly sister dates and the bonding that happens during weekly service have been the highlights of my time at Gonzaga. These 29 other amazing ladies have been my saving grace. I did not know many people freshman year and was looking for a club to make some friends and build meaningful relationships, and this club has been more than just making friends. I love them all so much. I came to Gonzaga not knowing anyone, and freshman year was hard for me. For one I was in a single dorm room so I did not have a roommate to be my automatic friend or someone I could do things with. But after hearing about Setons, I was not going to apply at first because it was a little overwhelming to me to be put in a club with 29 other freshman girls. I am a shy person, and I did not know if I could handle the social aspect of the club. From knowing mainly none of them, to now as my sophomore year is coming to a close, I can confidently say that they are all my best friends. These friendships will last more than just sophomore year. Seeing these girls on Wednesday night has become my highlight for the week. Time freezes during the meetings, you can look at the clock and it's 10:30pm, but it feels like 5 minutes when you are with all your friends having a good time. These women have been such an empowerment I will forever be thankful for all the meaningful friendships I have made. I found my community, my forever sisterhood, I found my meaning. Service, leadership, and finally sisterhood.
