Laila Zommers: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Laila Zommers and I’m from Seattle, WA. I’m double majoring in Accounting and Business Administration (with a Finance concentration). I am the oldest of 3, and my younger sister (17) and younger brother (15) are my best friends! Joining Setons this year has truly been one of the best decisions I have EVER made. Outside of Setons, I am an active member in the Gonzaga Women in Business club. I love to cook, go on runs, hang out with friends, shop, and explore the Spokane coffee scene.                                            Out of our three pillars, I have resonated the most with Sisterhood as it’s the backbone of everything we do in Setons. Leadership and service could not thrive the same without it. Finding a group of like-minded women has been super beneficial in my college experience and my growth into the young woman I am today. Ella Tran: Service

Hi y'all! My name is Ella Tran and I’m from right here in Spokane, Washington. I’m a biochemistry major on track for medical school after I graduate. I’m incredibly lucky to have a close family with an amazing mom, a pretty cool younger brother, and an extremely goofy dog named Benny who we rescued. One thing about me is that I’m always on the go and never in the same place. I love going on random adventures and being outside, which is where you will catch me most of the time: hiking, running, backpacking, skiing, camping, you name it! I also love playing intramural sports with my friends, especially pickleball. I am a big concert girl and will find any excuse to spend my money on concert tickets. By far the best concert I’ve ever been to was Zach Bryan in Boise! Setons has been the highlight of my sophomore year. It has introduced me to truly amazing women who I am fortunate enough to call some of my best friends and I will forever be grateful.

The pillar I have chosen to reflect on is service. Being a member of Setons has really influenced my love for service and giving back to the community. Growing up in Spokane, I have been given the opportunity to volunteer at many different organizations and charities which has been a big part of my life. Joining Setons has given me the opportunity to volunteer in new places with amazing girls. During my weekly service placement at the Hutton Settlement, I was fortunate enough to build stronger relationships with the girls in my service group as well as with the children and staff we have been working with. The Hutton Settlement has been a place that I have fallen in love with volunteering at and has been a highlight of my week. We are able to bring some positivity to these children and they are able to reflect it right back to all of us. Our weekly and monthly service projects have been a way for all of us to connect with each other while making a difference in the Gonzaga and Spokane community.
