Yuna Jang: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Yuna and I am from Sacramento, California. A bit about my home life, I have a sister who currently attends Baylor University on track to become a doctor and I am currently studying nursing. My parents own their own sushi restaurant so I can confidently say sushi is my favorite food (and I know good sushi). Other than Setons, I am also involved in the Gonzaga Student Nurses Association here on campus as well as when I’m at home from school, I work at my local gym’s kid’s club because I love working with kids! Although nursing is pretty rigorous academically, in my spare time I live with 3 other roommates and we love to cook, watch movies, go on walks, and shop!  I chose the Seton pillar of sisterhood. This pillar is truly what drew me to Setons in the first place. As a 2nd semester freshman girl, I felt like I had met a lot of people but didn’t truly connect with any to call them a close friend. However, once I joined Setons, I got to truly and deeply connect with ...

Ella Neifing: Leadership

Hi! My name is Ella Neifing. I am a Psychology major from Portland, Oregon and the President of the 2023-24 class of Setons! Alongside Setons I am also involved in GSBA and the Ambassador program at Gonzaga (I also love a good intramural game). When not in Setons meetings you can find me trying new coffee shops, going on drives with friends, searching for new music, and going on hikes and walks. My favorite season is summer and I love going to concerts, especially outdoor ones. My favorite way to spend my time though is at Setons events! The highlights of my week are going to weekly service and Wednesday night meetings.

When I reflect on the three pillars of Setons, the one that I have grown the most in is definitely leadership. Setons has taught me so much about being a friend, woman, and leader. I am so proud and grateful to be leading this incredible group of girls and feel I learn something new from them every day about what it truly means to lead. Whether it’s Maddie being the absolute best partner in crime and gracefully excelling in her role as VP, Alyssa and Bella meeting every curve ball thrown their way with a creative and effective solution on the spot while putting on Charity Ball, seeing Jenna’s insurmountable joy and encouraging energy shine through at every setons function, Maddie E. being the most amazing role model and Junior Advisor always giving me the best advice, or witnesses the sheer dedication, love, and care each and every one of the other 29 girls in this group has for who we are and what we do, I am constantly in awe of how lucky I am to get to create something so special with these girls and to see firsthand what true leadership looks like. I am forever changed and inspired by my Setons sisters and feel beyond lucky to have them in my life. I have learned so much about myself and feel I have grown so much in leadership from the opportunities Setons has given me, and I have these girls to thank.
