Hey everyone! My name is Paige Manne, and I am double majoring in Public Relations and Dance! I grew up in Bellevue, WA which is just outside Seattle, and moved with my family to Scottsdale, AZ after high school. This transition was very scary since I did not know anyone there, but I’ve learned through this experience that change is good, and it was the best decision my parents made for my two younger sisters and me. I have the honor of holding an exec position as one of the Charity Ball Co-Chairs and the process was so much fun! Outside of Setons, I am involved in the dance program here at Gonzaga. I was on the Gonzaga Repertory Dance Company last semester and had the amazing opportunity to perform at multiple showcases. This semester, I am performing in the Student Choreography Dance Concert alongside two other Setons, Lucia and Talia which I am so excited about! Some things I enjoy doing in my free time are taking Pilates classes, getting coffee, shopping, and hanging out with my friends!
When I first heard about Setons, it was introduced to me by a former Vice President of the club, and she told me about the pillar of service. I began volunteering in my community when I was a girl scout in elementary school and continued to when I got to high school. I grew a strong passion for helping others and making a difference in people’s lives. There is something so rewarding about serving others that it has become something I love to be involved in. As a Seton, we have the opportunity to volunteer weekly and monthly with all 30 of us. Last semester I volunteered on Thursdays at the Hutton Settlement. There we tutored the kids and put ourselves to work on some of the beautiful gardens on the property. It was so cool to see the seeds we had planted at the beginning, start to sprout by our last visit. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the kids every week, they were so appreciative of our help with their homework. This semester I get to work with kids again at the Isaac Foundation. This foundation offers many programs and after-school activities for children with autism. This has been a unique experience for me since it is my first time working with children with autism. I look forward to going every week because my group and I have begun forming connections and building relationships with the kids there, and it brings me joy to see the smiles on their faces when they see us. Service can look like many things. It can be something as big as deep cleaning an entire facility for the Naomi Community or sitting down with a child at the Isaac Foundation and listening to his/she’s day, it can make a huge difference in someone else’s life. This is why I believe the pillar of service is so important to our club. It is the basis of what we do, stand for, and advocate for as Setons of Gonzaga. It has been such a blessing getting to volunteer at such amazing organizations with 29 amazing sisters by my side.
“The fruit of love is service, which is compassion in action.” – Mother Teresa.
