Yuna Jang: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Yuna and I am from Sacramento, California. A bit about my home life, I have a sister who currently attends Baylor University on track to become a doctor and I am currently studying nursing. My parents own their own sushi restaurant so I can confidently say sushi is my favorite food (and I know good sushi). Other than Setons, I am also involved in the Gonzaga Student Nurses Association here on campus as well as when I’m at home from school, I work at my local gym’s kid’s club because I love working with kids! Although nursing is pretty rigorous academically, in my spare time I live with 3 other roommates and we love to cook, watch movies, go on walks, and shop!  I chose the Seton pillar of sisterhood. This pillar is truly what drew me to Setons in the first place. As a 2nd semester freshman girl, I felt like I had met a lot of people but didn’t truly connect with any to call them a close friend. However, once I joined Setons, I got to truly and deeply connect with ...

Lauren Kensel: Sisterhood

Hey y’all! My name is Lauren (or Lolo!), and I am from Newport Beach, California. I’m studying Business with a minor in Leadership Studies, and I live with my best friend Aiva, who also happens to be a Seton. I have a little brother named Braden and a puppy named Holly, and I miss our adventures together when I am in Spokane. I am one of the Social Chairs of Setons alongside Miss Katie Jo, and I also serve as a CLC leader through Mission and Ministry with our lovely President Maddie. I adore iced coffee, sunshine, cowgirl boots, and flowers, and I am so grateful to be part of such a special community on campus.
The pillar I will be reflecting on is sisterhood. I am so incredibly appreciative for the community of women that Setons has introduced me to. I have become close to girls that I never would have met if it wasn’t for this club, and I know that this is a network that I will be able to connect to and lean on for years to come. Coming into the club, I was a little nervous about making new connections. I can be a little shy sometimes, and I was worried that I wouldn’t make any fast friends. Quickly, my fears diminished. I felt so comforted when my sister Paige helped me choreograph a dance for my ballet final, and so joyful when getting to walk and chat with Tara, Georgia, and Mairead from our Wednesday night class to our weekly Setons meeting. I became close to Natalie and Alexa at our first semester service, laughed with Keely as we set up for retreat, planned events with the amazing Katie Jo, and went on the loveliest coffee walk and sister date with my favorite cross-country queen Kate. The true sisterhood that we have cultivated in our class is what makes me excited to go to service, meetings, classes, and the COG (where I run into my favorite Seton baes), and I owe my amazing sophomore experience to all the lovely Seton ladies that I get to call my besties!
