Eleanor Johnson: Service

Hi! My name is Eleanor Johnson, and I am from Snohomish, Washington. I am majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and have a minor in dance. Outside of class I work with Campus Kitchens, a program on campus that takes leftover food from campus dining to cook warm meals that are then served to Gonzaga Family Haven and O’Malley Senior Center. Along with Setons I am apart of Women in Business, Beta Alpha Psi, and the involved in the Gonzaga dance program. In my free time I like to read, get coffee, take workout classes, and watch Gilmore Girls.   I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and ever since, Service has been extremely important to me and something I strive to keep a part of my life. Growing up in Girl Scouts allowed me to recognize the importance of helping those in my community from an early age and has ultimately led me to be the person I am today. Service was the pillar that drove me to join Setons, and I’m so ...

Amaya: Service

Hi everyone!! My name is Amaya and I am a biology major with a minor in psychology. Outside of Setons, I am also a Resident Assistant (RA) in Catherine-Monica Hall and I also work with the Athletic Facilities department here at GU (you might be able to spot me on the court at basketball games!) Outside of school and work, you can usually find me chilling in my room watching TV shows or movies or talking to my parents and two little brothers on FaceTime. Something I'm looking forward to in the next couple of months is planning our club's charity ball! I hope to see you all there!
I actually decided to join the Setons mainly because of the service pillar! I loved volunteering for local charities and organizations in high school and I wanted to continue to give back while in college. The organizations the Setons choose to volunteer for mainly focus around children and women organizations in the Spokane area and I loved this about the Setons. In my hometown I loved volunteering for organizations with similar goals in uplifting the women and children in the community. As a freshman last year, I struggled to find a consistent place to volunteer with my schedule. With the Setons, I love how we are placed in a consistent weekly service group with a couple of other Setons along with also participating in monthly service projects with the entire group. It is so heartwarming and encouraging to see all of my sisters and I be able to serve at these organizations and projects. I will forever be grateful I was able to do these service hours with other women who also have a passion for service!
