Catherine Steiner - Service

Hello! My name is Catherine Steiner, I’m from Edmonds, Washington, and I am an English Major with a Concentration in Writing and a double minor in Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurial Leadership. I come from a big Zag family, three out of my four siblings went to Gonzaga so I’ve been going to Family Weekend and visiting campus since I was 7. A little fun fact is that my two older sisters were also in Setons, so I have had a love for this club since I was young! I am currently a part of the Setons Executive Board as this year's class President! As President I am responsible for leading all meetings, and ensure we continuously uphold our pillars of sisterhood, service and leadership. My favorite part about being in Setons has been meeting so many wonderful girls, and being more involved both on and off campus! Outside of Setons, I am a part of the Hogan Entrepreneurial Leadership program which has taught me so many communication, collaboration and leadership skills wh...

Macy Belusko: Service

Hi there! My name is Macy BeLusko and I am from Hillsboro, Oregon, which is about 30 minutes west of Portland. I am a nursing major here at GU and as of right now, I love the idea of specializing in labor and delivery. Because nursing is such a commitment, I have dedicated my time outside of studying to hanging out with my friends and to participate in Setons. I am extremely grateful that Setons is my outlet outside of academics here at GU. I look forward to spending time with my sisters every week, whether it’s at a Wednesday meeting or weekly service. It’s been such a blessing to be involved with such an amazing group of girls. Some other important facts about me are that I am obsessed with Harry Styles, the color pink, the Muppets, and pumpkin spice lattes (with oat milk obviously because I’m lactose intolerant).

I wanted to talk about service in relation to Setons because this pillar is what pushed me to want to join the club. Since middle school, serving my community has always been a huge passion of mine. I love knowing that my small actions can have a meaning, a purpose, and can make an impact on the greater community around me. Setons has given me the opportunity to continue pursuing this passion of mine and my experience thus far has exceeded my expectations. For the past few weeks, I’ve been volunteering at the Hutton Settlement with my amazing sisters, Miss Georgia and Miss Maddie. The relationships I’ve built with not only the kids I tutor, but with the staff at Hutton and my two service sisters, are ones that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I’m so grateful that Hutton has given us the opportunity to help these children succeed, even if it’s just with their math or science homework. I’m super sad knowing that my time at Hutton will soon come to a close but, as of right now, I intend on volunteering in my own time once the new semester begins. I feel as though I’ve found a truly special organization with even more special kids and staff and I’m not ready to leave that behind! Again, I am so grateful that Setons has allowed me to continue pursuing my passion of service in college. My love for service has only grown thanks to Setons!
