Sarah Grassel: Service

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Grassel and I’m a Biology major with a Spanish minor. I’m from Corvallis, Oregon, and have lived my whole life in the Pacific Northwest. Because of this, I’ve developed a love of the outdoors, especially of hiking, biking, and paddle boarding (and also coffee of course). I love to go on walks, especially on the beach, and like to read, bake, play piano, swim, and spend time with friends and family. At Gonzaga, I’m involved in campus ministry and work as a tutor in math and chemistry, and, of course, I am a Seton. Coming to Gonzaga, I knew I wanted to find a community that valued service and connection. Service has always been an important part of my life. Through volunteering, I’ve gotten to meet so many people from different walks of life while working on various projects. I believe serving others is essential to living a flourishing life. It’s an act of love and humility, recognizing the gifts one has received and working for and with others in gratitude...

Alexa Ford: Leadership

Hi guys! My name is Alexa Ford, and I am from Newcastle, Washington (a suburb of Seattle)! I am still undecided for my major but hopefully will figure it out soon. I have one older sister, Makenna, who is my absolute best friend. We both transferred to Gonzaga last semester, wanting to find our own communities, and I am lucky enough to have been able to find my people through Setons! I am so thankful to have this club, not only to make my best friends, but also to be able to make an impact on the Spokane community.

While sisterhood and service are very apparent when starting this club, there are also many leadership opportunities as well. I am the Apparel chair this year, which includes making designs and presenting them in front of all the girls. While my position is not very complicated, I still feel appreciated as I am invited to attend all the weekly exec meetings. Even if I do not have any updates about apparel, I still feel supported to make comments to the other chairs about opinions or thoughts I have concerning the rest of the Setons. I feel that I can make a strong impact on not only my fellow sisters, but also the changes we are making in the community. Since over half of the 30 girls will hold an exec position, I feel that there are opportunities for everyone to find their sweet spot and be able to hold a position that fits their desires. I feel empowered and supported through the smallest things.
