Eleanor Johnson: Service

Hi! My name is Eleanor Johnson, and I am from Snohomish, Washington. I am majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and have a minor in dance. Outside of class I work with Campus Kitchens, a program on campus that takes leftover food from campus dining to cook warm meals that are then served to Gonzaga Family Haven and O’Malley Senior Center. Along with Setons I am apart of Women in Business, Beta Alpha Psi, and the involved in the Gonzaga dance program. In my free time I like to read, get coffee, take workout classes, and watch Gilmore Girls.   I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and ever since, Service has been extremely important to me and something I strive to keep a part of my life. Growing up in Girl Scouts allowed me to recognize the importance of helping those in my community from an early age and has ultimately led me to be the person I am today. Service was the pillar that drove me to join Setons, and I’m so ...

Jackie Ann Reid: Sisterhood

Hi everyone! My name is Jackie Ann Reid, and I am from Olympia, Washington. I was born and raised there but I consider Eastern Washington my second home. I have three brothers, along with my mom and my dad, and I am the youngest of my siblings. Alongside Setons, I am also a part of Gonzaga’s Club Basketball team, and I work on campus at the Rudolph Fitness Center! With school and work, Setons has become an outlet for me to take a break and be surrounded by so many wonderful girls who I love!

As many freshmen experiences go, my first year was difficult. I found social challenges to be the greatest task of all. I worked but was surrounded by peers older than me with whom I struggled to relate. Looking for a group of people my age to hang out with was one of my goals. One day walking to class, I was handed a Seton’s flyer by one of the previous members in front of Hemmingson. The first thing that caught my attention and sparked my interest was the word “sisterhood” on the flyer. Having met the gracious woman in Setons since then, I am confident that I have found my group. Thanks to this club, I have built friendships with girls I wouldn't have without it and for that, I am truly grateful. I wrote about our pillar of Sisterhood because I love making memories with these girls every day, from weekly service to social gatherings. The ability to go on sister dates and make new connections with everyone is my favorite part of the program. I am so grateful to have been a part of Setons this year and to have met these wonderful ladies!
