Yuna Jang: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Yuna and I am from Sacramento, California. A bit about my home life, I have a sister who currently attends Baylor University on track to become a doctor and I am currently studying nursing. My parents own their own sushi restaurant so I can confidently say sushi is my favorite food (and I know good sushi). Other than Setons, I am also involved in the Gonzaga Student Nurses Association here on campus as well as when I’m at home from school, I work at my local gym’s kid’s club because I love working with kids! Although nursing is pretty rigorous academically, in my spare time I live with 3 other roommates and we love to cook, watch movies, go on walks, and shop!  I chose the Seton pillar of sisterhood. This pillar is truly what drew me to Setons in the first place. As a 2nd semester freshman girl, I felt like I had met a lot of people but didn’t truly connect with any to call them a close friend. However, once I joined Setons, I got to truly and deeply connect with ...

Sophie Kuhn- Sisterhood

Hi! My name is Sophie Kuhn and I originally am from Bellevue, Washington. I am
majoring in mathematics, and earning my secondary education certificate, in hopes of being a
middle school or high school math teacher. I am also co-chair of the Charity Ball this year in
Setons. I have absolutely loved my time in Setons, and looking back on this year, I couldn’t
imagine it without the sisterhood, friendships, and service I have experienced. I feel like I
personally have grown a lot over this last year, and this organization has allowed me to meet a
completely new part of campus. This has been more than a club for me, as it has continuously
led me to step outside my comfort zone, try new things, and serve the Spokane community
around me.

One aspect of Setons that I am so grateful for is the sisterhood aspect. During Freshman
year I felt trapped on campus, and I didn’t feel like I knew many people outside of my dorm and
classes. Being in education, my classes consisted of the same people, whom I love, but I was
craving meeting more people. Now in Setons, I am more than confident in saying that I
wouldn’t have gotten to know most of the girls in this organization if we had not been led to
serve together this year. One of my favorite things we do is our weekly Wednesday night
meetings. Gathering together, no matter how stressed or busy our week is, this is a time of
relief and a time to catch up with everyone. I love the time in the meeting when we do sister
shoutouts, which is where we call out girls giving them praise for something they did for one of
us during the previous week. Usually after our meetings we all stay and chat and share a few
laughs, which always makes my week. I also enjoy our sister dates, where we get assigned
another Seton to grab a coffee or meal with during the week. This one-on-one time has allowed
me to get to know so many girls on a deeper level and learn something I might not otherwise
know. This kind of sisterhood is very unique, and I feel very blessed in the sense that I will
always be able to cherish this in the coming years and beyond.

I have also enjoyed our monthly social events that have allowed us to bond as a larger
group. Some of the standout events to me have been our trip to Green Bluff, our Christmas
party, our Retreat, and our trip downtown for ice skating and shopping. No matter what the
event is, we always manage to have a good time, and I always leave with a full heart. Shout out
to our Social Chairs Sam & Lucy!!!

The time in Setons has been going by fast, and I keep wishing time would slow down so I
could cherish this special time just a little bit longer. Although our sophomore year is starting to
wind down, we will always be a part of this amazing organization and I look forward to seeing
the future generations of Setons continue this unconditional sisterhood, leadership, and
service.
