Laila Zommers: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Laila Zommers and I’m from Seattle, WA. I’m double majoring in Accounting and Business Administration (with a Finance concentration). I am the oldest of 3, and my younger sister (17) and younger brother (15) are my best friends! Joining Setons this year has truly been one of the best decisions I have EVER made. Outside of Setons, I am an active member in the Gonzaga Women in Business club. I love to cook, go on runs, hang out with friends, shop, and explore the Spokane coffee scene.                                            Out of our three pillars, I have resonated the most with Sisterhood as it’s the backbone of everything we do in Setons. Maggie Moffat- Service

Hello! My name is Maggie Moffat, and I am a business major with a minor in Spanish. I am from Auburn, WA.

One thing I absolutely love about being a Seton is all of the wonderful service we are a part of. This semester, I have had the opportunity to serve meals to Spokane’s homeless population at Blessings Under the Bridge. Every Wednesday night this organization provides dinner, groceries, pet food, shoes, and clothing to over 350 people. It is a lively atmosphere underneath the freeway, with music and smiling faces. Many of the stories shared at this weekly event are moving as well as heartbreaking. This weekly service truly has been one of the most eye-opening things I’ve been involved in, and words cannot describe the impact these people have had on me. Having the opportunity to get to know the individuals at Blessings Under the Bridge has definitely widened my perspective and allowed me to better know the Spokane community. I am incredibly grateful to be a part of Setons and to have these experiences!

In addition to our regular weekly service, we also choose a different area to serve at each month. For February, we were able to volunteer at an elementary Father-Daughter dance! Of the 30 of us helping, we filled different needs at the dance including the snack area, photos, coat check, and registration. It was such a fun night seeing the excited young girls in dresses, and dancing as we worked.
