Mary Maidment: Service

Hi! My name is Mary Maidment and I am from Portland, Oregon. I am studying neuroscience with a minor in psychology on the pre-med track. On campus, I work as an events assistant and as an Ambassador, frequently giving tours. When I have free time, I love to be outside hiking, shopping, intramural sports, workout classes, and spending time with friends. This year, my team won our softball and volleyball intramural championships!! I have been busy watching the new Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season and just finished Scandal. What drew me to Setons was the Service pillar. Since I was young, my family has made an effort to be actively involved in different forms of service in our community. Peyton Wright- Service

Hi there! My name is Peyton Wright and I am majoring in Special Education with an endorsement in reading, working towards becoming a teacher! After working directly with the homeless population of Spokane last semester, I have transitioned to yet another hands on, but more youthful aspect of service. For this semester, I am volunteering at Saint Anne’s Children and Family Center as a preschool classroom assistant. Each week my Wednesday service group and I are sent into our designated classrooms and are greeted by the smiling faces of the students. In the time I spend with the lead teachers and preschoolers, I am available to help with snack, cleaning up around the classroom, and spending time outside during recess playing games with the kids.

Service with my fellow Setons has been a special break within my stressful weeks. As we approach week 6 of visiting Saint Anne’s, I have been involved in many unique experiences that I would be unable to have without the help of Setons. I am so excited to see what comes in my future service experiences with Setons and continue to develop my relationships with my sisters!
