Laila Zommers: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Laila Zommers and I’m from Seattle, WA. I’m double majoring in Accounting and Business Administration (with a Finance concentration). I am the oldest of 3, and my younger sister (17) and younger brother (15) are my best friends! Joining Setons this year has truly been one of the best decisions I have EVER made. Outside of Setons, I am an active member in the Gonzaga Women in Business club. I love to cook, go on runs, hang out with friends, shop, and explore the Spokane coffee scene.                                            Out of our three pillars, I have resonated the most with Sisterhood as it’s the backbone of everything we do in Setons. Leadership and service could not thrive the same without it. Finding a group of like-minded women has been super beneficial in my college experience and my growth into the young woman I am today. Lorraine Scott: Sisterhood

Hi! My name is Lorraine Scott and I’m from Denver, CO. I’m a chemistry major hoping to go into formulation chemistry like cosmetics in the future! I currently work as a TA/ tutor for organic chemistry in Hughes. A bit about me, I have two brothers, an older and younger and 2 adorable dogs named Lucy and Ruth back home! In my free time I love learning new crafts like cross stitch or crochet, baking cookies, playing games, and being with friends and family. I love listening to music to relax. I like all genres, but my top artists right now are Taylor Swift, The Lumineers, Hozier, and Tai Verdes. My favorite thing about Setons has been being able to meet the other 29 wonderful girls!
Sisterhood to me is such an important aspect of my life. While I don't have an actual sister, the female friendships I’ve made so far have taught me so much about caring for others and loving myself. I will always be appreciative of the lessons I’ve learned and the empowerment that has come from other women in my life. One of the biggest reasons I applied to Setons was the sisterhood aspect that I didn’t feel like I had found at Gonzaga my freshman year. My first year had lots of ups and downs with the transition into college life, and it was hard to find a place where I felt like I belonged. Since being a part of this amazing group of girls I can confidently say I have built lifelong friendships and found people who I can count on for anything. We recently went on our yearly retreat, which was filled with laughter, hugs, and reflections. Our relationships grew with every new activity from PowerPoint nights to dance battles. The amount of laughs shared and memories made would never have happened without these newfound sisters. I feel so lucky to have been a part of this club, as it has allowed me to grow as an individual while also gaining experience working closely towards a common goal of fostering a one-of-a-kind space for us to be our true selves.
