Sarah Grassel: Service

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Grassel and I’m a Biology major with a Spanish minor. I’m from Corvallis, Oregon, and have lived my whole life in the Pacific Northwest. Because of this, I’ve developed a love of the outdoors, especially of hiking, biking, and paddle boarding (and also coffee of course). I love to go on walks, especially on the beach, and like to read, bake, play piano, swim, and spend time with friends and family. At Gonzaga, I’m involved in campus ministry and work as a tutor in math and chemistry, and, of course, I am a Seton. Coming to Gonzaga, I knew I wanted to find a community that valued service and connection. Service has always been an important part of my life. Through volunteering, I’ve gotten to meet so many people from different walks of life while working on various projects. I believe serving others is essential to living a flourishing life. It’s an act of love and humility, recognizing the gifts one has received and working for and with others in gratitude...

Brandy Grey: Leadership

Hi everyone! My name is Brandy Grey and I am from Las Vegas, NV. I am studying Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Information Systems with a minor in Sports Management! I am an only child who loves her extended family and whose best friend is her mom, a lifelong athlete always trying new sports, and honestly someone who is just trying to make the most out of the time she has! I am usually always running around campus and finding new things to keep me busy -- all of the opportunities are one of the reasons I love Gonzaga! Recently I have been rewatching my favorite show, One Tree Hill, and I have been watching a lot of Wicked due to part 2 coming out in a couple weeks!

One of the things that intrigued me about Setons was the Leadership pillar! In high school, leadership allowed me to grow from a shy girl too afraid to put herself out there, to being good at public speaking, leading different initiatives on campus by the time I was graduating. When I saw that there was an opportunity at Gonzaga that would allow me to grow closer with 30 other girls and another opportunity to grow myself (as a now adult on her own in college), I was called to join the organization. This year, I have the pleasure and honor to serve as Treasurer on the Executive Board, and it has been one of the most fulfilling, and at times, challenging roles. I have learned how to have balance and hard conversations while separating out the sisterhood and seriousness of the role. This has challenged me as a leader to understand how to work with and help people, and to also understand them individually. I have really learned to love Leadership and the achievement of helping others around me achieve greater things. I am a firm believer that you can only get better by challenging yourself, and when I am in these leadership roles, I am not only able to support my community, but I am also able to grow more into the person I want to be.
