Eleanor Johnson: Service

Hi! My name is Eleanor Johnson, and I am from Snohomish, Washington. I am majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and have a minor in dance. Outside of class I work with Campus Kitchens, a program on campus that takes leftover food from campus dining to cook warm meals that are then served to Gonzaga Family Haven and O’Malley Senior Center. Along with Setons I am apart of Women in Business, Beta Alpha Psi, and the involved in the Gonzaga dance program. In my free time I like to read, get coffee, take workout classes, and watch Gilmore Girls.   I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and ever since, Service has been extremely important to me and something I strive to keep a part of my life. Growing up in Girl Scouts allowed me to recognize the importance of helping those in my community from an early age and has ultimately led me to be the person I am today. Service was the pillar that drove me to join Setons, and I’m so ...

Jenna Johnston: Leadership

Hi y’all! My name is Jenna Johnston and I am from Billings, MT. I am majoring in Criminology and am minoring in German (weird combo - I know)! You should also know that I have a very serious coke (the beverage) addiction. I will not drink diet coke, coke zero, or anything pepsi; coke only. I am hoping to one day work in corrections and help people live their lives to their fullest potential. I like to think that I am active on campus, as I have two jobs and am a part of four clubs. When I heard about Setons, I just knew that I had to join and get myself one of the super swanky sweatshirts. In all seriousness, it sounded like a club that was perfect for me. Who doesn’t want to serve the community with 29 of their closest friends?!

I have always loved to be in clubs and to be active in school activities, but I have never been one to hold a leadership position. That all changed for me when I became a Seton and became my class’ chaplain. Leadership in Setons has been one of the greatest experiences for me. I have made some very good friends and get to be more involved with all the girls. I get to help with certain functions of the club and I get to make the girls smile every week (my way of saying I have the best job 🥰). It makes me so happy to be a leader that the girls can come to for anything and I do my best to step up to the plate to help out wherever needed. Leadership has also been important for me when spending time at my service placement, the Boys and Girls Club. The kids at the club know no boundaries, so it is important for the volunteers to be both compassionate and headstrong. I have learned a lot about my abilities with patience and empathy. Both my position within Setons and my experience in service have provided me with invaluable experience in leadership, showing me how my skills can make a difference both within our club and our community. I am forever grateful for this group of girls <3 !
