Eleanor Johnson: Service

Hi! My name is Eleanor Johnson, and I am from Snohomish, Washington. I am majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and have a minor in dance. Outside of class I work with Campus Kitchens, a program on campus that takes leftover food from campus dining to cook warm meals that are then served to Gonzaga Family Haven and O’Malley Senior Center. Along with Setons I am apart of Women in Business, Beta Alpha Psi, and the involved in the Gonzaga dance program. In my free time I like to read, get coffee, take workout classes, and watch Gilmore Girls.   I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and ever since, Service has been extremely important to me and something I strive to keep a part of my life. Growing up in Girl Scouts allowed me to recognize the importance of helping those in my community from an early age and has ultimately led me to be the person I am today. Service was the pillar that drove me to join Setons, and I’m so ...

Alysa Kotsakis: Service

Hi! My name is Alysa Kotsakis. I am from Mililani, HI, central on the island of Oahu. I am a Nursing student and plan on becoming a Nurse Practitioner. I also play drums for the Bulldog Band and love playing and traveling for the basketball games. Besides the band, I love to spend my free time with the Hawaii Pacific Islander Club, Delight club, and especially Setons!

I will be reflecting on the service pillar. Service is an important part of my life both at home and at school. I volunteer at my Church’s Sunday School as an office aid and classroom assistant for the younger classrooms. I also volunteer with the Best Buddies Non-Profit which builds friendships for students with intellectual disabilities. These experiences with children have prepared me for my time serving the community through Setons. Once a week I volunteer with my small group at the Boys and Girls Club where I mostly work with Kindergarten and 1st Graders. We play games, work on homework, and chit-chat during supper. I love every minute there and will always remember the connections I made with the kids. The Setons also do a monthly service event and my favorite so far was with the Isaac Foundation where we handed out candy and did trick-or-treating activities for children with Autism. Both the weekly and monthly services have helped me connect with my community and I look forward to my time doing service every week!
