Laila Zommers: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Laila Zommers and I’m from Seattle, WA. I’m double majoring in Accounting and Business Administration (with a Finance concentration). I am the oldest of 3, and my younger sister (17) and younger brother (15) are my best friends! Joining Setons this year has truly been one of the best decisions I have EVER made. Outside of Setons, I am an active member in the Gonzaga Women in Business club. I love to cook, go on runs, hang out with friends, shop, and explore the Spokane coffee scene.                                            Out of our three pillars, I have resonated the most with Sisterhood as it’s the backbone of everything we do in Setons. Leadership and service could not thrive the same without it. Finding a group of like-minded women has been super beneficial in my college experience and my growth into the young woman I am today. Kate Ferrell: Service

Hey guys, my name is Kate Ferrell. I am an accounting major, and a history minor. I am from Western Springs IL, which is a suburb of Chicago. I love to run and am on Gonzaga’s women's cross country and track team, but my true passion is the intramural softball team I was on this fall. I also play piano in my free time and am a part of a film club so if you ever want to watch a movie on a Thursday night with your friends stop by Jundt 110. Some of my favorite things to do outside school and running is snowboarding, hiking, and getting froyo with friends!
I am going to be reflecting on the Setons pillar of Service. Service is a crucial part of our club, but it also holds a particularly special place in my heart. I was very active in the organization Dare2Tri when I was in highschool, which focused on helping disabled kids complete triathlons. I was a guide all throughout highschool, and loved helping the kids complete triathlons. Last fall I got to work more closely with kids again at OneHeart. OneHeart is an after school organization for children of the Spokane area that provides a place for kids to go to for dinner, and a chance to play games with other children. The relationships I made with the kids at the end of the semester really was one of the highlights of my time at Gonzaga so far. I am looking forward to more service opportunities this spring. I think of all the pillars Service is the one that I find the most rewarding in my life.
