Yuna Jang: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Yuna and I am from Sacramento, California. A bit about my home life, I have a sister who currently attends Baylor University on track to become a doctor and I am currently studying nursing. My parents own their own sushi restaurant so I can confidently say sushi is my favorite food (and I know good sushi). Other than Setons, I am also involved in the Gonzaga Student Nurses Association here on campus as well as when I’m at home from school, I work at my local gym’s kid’s club because I love working with kids! Although nursing is pretty rigorous academically, in my spare time I live with 3 other roommates and we love to cook, watch movies, go on walks, and shop!  I chose the Seton pillar of sisterhood. This pillar is truly what drew me to Setons in the first place. As a 2nd semester freshman girl, I felt like I had met a lot of people but didn’t truly connect with any to call them a close friend. However, once I joined Setons, I got to truly and deeply connect with ...

Kate Ferrell: Service

Hey guys, my name is Kate Ferrell. I am an accounting major, and a history minor. I am from Western Springs IL, which is a suburb of Chicago. I love to run and am on Gonzaga’s women's cross country and track team, but my true passion is the intramural softball team I was on this fall. I also play piano in my free time and am a part of a film club so if you ever want to watch a movie on a Thursday night with your friends stop by Jundt 110. Some of my favorite things to do outside school and running is snowboarding, hiking, and getting froyo with friends!
I am going to be reflecting on the Setons pillar of Service. Service is a crucial part of our club, but it also holds a particularly special place in my heart. I was very active in the organization Dare2Tri when I was in highschool, which focused on helping disabled kids complete triathlons. I was a guide all throughout highschool, and loved helping the kids complete triathlons. Last fall I got to work more closely with kids again at OneHeart. OneHeart is an after school organization for children of the Spokane area that provides a place for kids to go to for dinner, and a chance to play games with other children. The relationships I made with the kids at the end of the semester really was one of the highlights of my time at Gonzaga so far. I am looking forward to more service opportunities this spring. I think of all the pillars Service is the one that I find the most rewarding in my life.
