Yuna Jang: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Yuna and I am from Sacramento, California. A bit about my home life, I have a sister who currently attends Baylor University on track to become a doctor and I am currently studying nursing. My parents own their own sushi restaurant so I can confidently say sushi is my favorite food (and I know good sushi). Other than Setons, I am also involved in the Gonzaga Student Nurses Association here on campus as well as when I’m at home from school, I work at my local gym’s kid’s club because I love working with kids! Although nursing is pretty rigorous academically, in my spare time I live with 3 other roommates and we love to cook, watch movies, go on walks, and shop!  I chose the Seton pillar of sisterhood. This pillar is truly what drew me to Setons in the first place. As a 2nd semester freshman girl, I felt like I had met a lot of people but didn’t truly connect with any to call them a close friend. However, once I joined Setons, I got to truly and deeply connect with ...

Aiva McCargo: Service

Hi everyone! My name is Aiva and I am a Business major from Bothell, Washington. My hobbies include baking, watching movies, fitness, and hanging out with friends and family. I am the youngest of three girls, so I am very lucky to have two wonderful older sisters. My family and I also have a french bulldog named Kiwi, who is my pride and joy. Two things I am really looking forward to is spending Thanksgiving with my family and also the Setons retreat coming up in January.

The pillar I chose to share about is service. I work off-campus for Second Harvest, which is a non-profit hunger relief organization that serves 26 counties and feeds 55,000 people weekly. My job allows me to work closely with the volunteers of Second Harvest, many of whom are regulars that devote more than ten hours weekly to helping our organization. This has been an incredibly impactful experience for me and in all my years of service I had never before encountered such kind-hearted and selfless people. The service I do every week for Setons at CAPA is always a highlight of my week and something I look forward to. The girls in my group that I have gotten to know well are incredible women with passion for serving others. These experiences have helped me grow as a person and expand my own heart for service. I am so grateful to have had these experiences and I look forward to continuing growing as both a person and in my ability to serve my community.
