Mary Maidment: Service

Hi! My name is Mary Maidment and I am from Portland, Oregon. I am studying neuroscience with a minor in psychology on the pre-med track. On campus, I work as an events assistant and as an Ambassador, frequently giving tours. When I have free time, I love to be outside hiking, shopping, intramural sports, workout classes, and spending time with friends. This year, my team won our softball and volleyball intramural championships!! I have been busy watching the new Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season and just finished Scandal. What drew me to Setons was the Service pillar. Since I was young, my family has made an effort to be actively involved in different forms of service in our community. We spent time at our church, local food bank, community garden, and my favorite was making clothing bags for children in need. I loved picking outfits and giving toys, games, and other activities. Jessie Stenberg- Service

Hi there!
My name is Jessie Stenberg and I am an Accounting and finance major. I want to share with you my experience and involvement with Setons this year. Focusing on service, leadership, and sisterhood, Setons has the opportunity to serve the Spokane community while bonding with one another and growing as stronger individuals.

Every Wednesday, I get the Pleasure of serving with the amazing organization, Blessings Under the Bridge. This organization serve the Spokane community by providing hope to the homeless community. Blessings Under the Bridge serves over 350 individuals each week, offering a meal, desserts, groceries, cold and hot beverages, treats, pet food, shoes, clothing, hygiene products, and more. It is incredible to see how many donations Blessings Under the Bridge receives and how blessed the homeless population is to receive these donations.
Some nights of service have been very cold, and it makes me thankful for how blessed I am to call a warm place to call home. The homeless population is forced to endure the cold winter nights without a place to go. Blessings Under the Bridge helps to provide warm winter clothes, hats, and mittens. Volunteering with Blessings shows how important it is to help the community in any way possible because even small donations help.

I am so blessed to have the opportunity to help the community grow and also see myself grow as an individual and reflect on my experiences. Being able to serve the Spokane community while growing closer with this group of girls has brought me amazing new friends. Setons has been such a light in my life this fall, I have extremely enjoyed being involved in Setons and cannot wait for the rest of the year!
