Eleanor Johnson: Service

Hi! My name is Eleanor Johnson, and I am from Snohomish, Washington. I am majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and have a minor in dance. Outside of class I work with Campus Kitchens, a program on campus that takes leftover food from campus dining to cook warm meals that are then served to Gonzaga Family Haven and O’Malley Senior Center. Along with Setons I am apart of Women in Business, Beta Alpha Psi, and the involved in the Gonzaga dance program. In my free time I like to read, get coffee, take workout classes, and watch Gilmore Girls.   I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and ever since, Service has been extremely important to me and something I strive to keep a part of my life. Growing up in Girl Scouts allowed me to recognize the importance of helping those in my community from an early age and has ultimately led me to be the person I am today. Service was the pillar that drove me to join Setons, and I’m so ...

Catherine Steiner - Service

Hello! My name is Catherine Steiner, I’m from Edmonds, Washington, and I am an English Major with a Concentration in Writing and a double minor in Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurial Leadership. I come from a big Zag family, three out of my four siblings went to Gonzaga so I’ve been going to Family Weekend and visiting campus since I was 7. A little fun fact is that my two older sisters were also in Setons, so I have had a love for this club since I was young! I am currently a part of the Setons Executive Board as this year's class President! As President I am responsible for leading all meetings, and ensure we continuously uphold our pillars of sisterhood, service and leadership. My favorite part about being in Setons has been meeting so many wonderful girls, and being more involved both on and off campus! Outside of Setons, I am a part of the Hogan Entrepreneurial Leadership program which has taught me so many communication, collaboration and leadership skills which has helped me in my role in Setons. I also enjoy spending time with my friends, cooking/baking, reading, watching movies, listening to music and attending basketball games. Go Zags!

The most amazing part about Setons is all the service that we do. Not only do we have monthly service events together as a club, but also weekly service! This semester my weekly service assignment was at Transitional Living Center, an organization that offers housing to women and their children. Our job was to organize weekly events for the children and their moms to attend. We organized events such as slime making, movie nights, pumpkin painting and arts and crafts! I’ve loved getting to know the kids and seeing their joy when we do activities together. The greatest thing about the service we do is being able to see the immediate impact we make on communities, and being able to directly interact with the women and children really made me realize the true value of service and doing things for others, which has been super fulfilling! I feel so lucky to be a Seton!
