Yuna Jang: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Yuna and I am from Sacramento, California. A bit about my home life, I have a sister who currently attends Baylor University on track to become a doctor and I am currently studying nursing. My parents own their own sushi restaurant so I can confidently say sushi is my favorite food (and I know good sushi). Other than Setons, I am also involved in the Gonzaga Student Nurses Association here on campus as well as when I’m at home from school, I work at my local gym’s kid’s club because I love working with kids! Although nursing is pretty rigorous academically, in my spare time I live with 3 other roommates and we love to cook, watch movies, go on walks, and shop!  I chose the Seton pillar of sisterhood. This pillar is truly what drew me to Setons in the first place. As a 2nd semester freshman girl, I felt like I had met a lot of people but didn’t truly connect with any to call them a close friend. However, once I joined Setons, I got to truly and deeply connect with ...

Sarah Ott: Leadership

Hi friends! My name is Sarah and I am from Los Altos, California. I am currently majoring in nursing and I hope to become a nurse anesthetist later down the road. Aside from my involvement in Setons, some things that I participate in at Gonzaga are Delight Ministries and various intramurals. In my free time, I love going skiing, doing Peloton spin classes, and eating sushi. A fun fact about me is even though I eat sushi all the time, I cannot seem to figure out how to use chopsticks if my life depended on it. My favorite thing about Setons is being able to meet so many girls that I may not have met otherwise!
The pillar of Setons that holds the most significance to me is leadership. Strong leadership is what lays the foundation for the other pillars to thrive. Without exercising positive leadership skills, we would not be able to coordinate service events or turn our ideas into realities. Additionally, having good leadership skills is what sets us up to create meaningful relationships with others. Our deep sisterly bonds would not be able to flourish without being able to lead conversations or be the first to reach out to others. Being a part of Setons has inspired so much growth in my ability to lead. One way I have been able to practice leadership is through my executive role as Chaplain. In my position, I get to share a piece of Setons history with my sisters at our weekly meetings and organize ushers for student mass every Sunday. I am so grateful to be a part of such a supportive and encouraging community where I can grow in leadership and never fail to be inspired by my fellow sisters.
