Yuna Jang: Sisterhood

Hello! My name is Yuna and I am from Sacramento, California. A bit about my home life, I have a sister who currently attends Baylor University on track to become a doctor and I am currently studying nursing. My parents own their own sushi restaurant so I can confidently say sushi is my favorite food (and I know good sushi). Other than Setons, I am also involved in the Gonzaga Student Nurses Association here on campus as well as when I’m at home from school, I work at my local gym’s kid’s club because I love working with kids! Although nursing is pretty rigorous academically, in my spare time I live with 3 other roommates and we love to cook, watch movies, go on walks, and shop!  I chose the Seton pillar of sisterhood. This pillar is truly what drew me to Setons in the first place. As a 2nd semester freshman girl, I felt like I had met a lot of people but didn’t truly connect with any to call them a close friend. However, once I joined Setons, I got to truly and deeply connect with ...

Erin Cooney- Service

Hey! My name is Erin Cooney. I’m from Phoenix, Arizona and I'm a chemistry major. I enjoy listening to music and skiing. I’ve been a ski instructor for four years alongside my mom, dad, and brother. We have two large dogs who also enjoy the snow, an Alaskan Malamute named Bella and a black lab named Gypsy. I love being a part of the Gonzaga community and I’m so thankful that Setons has allowed me to meet so many new friends!

Service has always been an important value in my life and being a part of Setons has made it possible to be involved with consistent and meaningful service throughout the year. My weekly service is working with the Transitional Living Center at the afterschool program called EduCare. Transitions provides a safe living space for women and children in Spokane. This year in EduCare we have a lot of kindergarteners who are eager to learn and bring a lot of energy into the program. I’m grateful to work with kids who bring tons of laughter and joy into the room. I love being able to contribute to the activities and experiences that bring light into their lives, and often brighten my life as well. Monthly service is also fun because I am able to work with different Seton sisters to benefit the local community. Seton’s has emphasized my passion for service because it provides a group of uplifting voices that are dedicated to helping our community. ATTS<3
