Eleanor Johnson: Service

Hi! My name is Eleanor Johnson, and I am from Snohomish, Washington. I am majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems and have a minor in dance. Outside of class I work with Campus Kitchens, a program on campus that takes leftover food from campus dining to cook warm meals that are then served to Gonzaga Family Haven and O’Malley Senior Center. Along with Setons I am apart of Women in Business, Beta Alpha Psi, and the involved in the Gonzaga dance program. In my free time I like to read, get coffee, take workout classes, and watch Gilmore Girls.   I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and ever since, Service has been extremely important to me and something I strive to keep a part of my life. Artisans Reflection: Trey Hardy

Almost a month ago now, I met my mentee Aaron. Aaron has been one of the long-term workers at Artisans and is great overall. He started off quiet and shy as I expected, however I have really gotten to know Aaron this last month when we meet on Thursdays.

I have found out that Aaron is very physically active and has a great schedule as far as going bowling, swimming, lifting weights, and many other activities. We usually talk about how all of this is going and watch a movie while doing things like playing his favorite game, Chutes and Ladders.

This week we decided that Aaron and his friend at Artisans, Jacob, should make gingerbread houses and watch Christmas movies, as this was the last meeting before Christmas. Aaron made some awesome houses by himself and I really enjoyed watching him figure out how to do the little things to make sure the house was absolutely perfect!
